I feel deceived on all sides-Quite enlightening

Today while I was searching out a book for a customer on "What happened in America today" I ran into the Library of Congress site. Today December 17th The Wright Brothers made their first flight and stayed in the air for 57 seconds. Yesterday was the famous Boston Tea Party of 1773. A sense of pride and admiration welled up inside of me. I felt grateful to be an American and inspired that so many good things have begun here. But as I scrolled down the page in 2005 George W. Bush admitted to approving of secret eavesdrop on his fellow Americans.

I was instantly struck with deep disappointment and sorrow. Under the current political climate I have become more awake and aware that I know little about liberty and my unalienable rights for which the War for Independence was waged and won. Why don't I understand the principles upon which freedom is established? The dominate goal of many is to protect Personal Peace at all costs. Very little thought is expelled if their Guy is in office at the White house. No need to waste time and energy upon the current tyranny and encroachment of a ever growing government. We the American people have been decieved on all sides. George W. Bush unleashed terrible debt and waged some entangling war allainces upon our nation as Barack H. Obama has unleashed disastrous social programs and runaway debt.

How can we as Americans through off the chains of tyranny. What must we learn. How must we behave and Who must we become to preserve the precious seeds of liberty for our children and grandchild? Governments are instituted among men to protect our rights which are Life, liberty and property deriving their just powers from the consent of the people. When they no longer serve that sacred responsibility what must we do? I believe we must get an education, become what is called Liber. One definition of Liber is "Having the education necessary to remain free". Dr. Oliver Demille of George Wythe University says "You are only as free as what you know and understand"

Much of my disappointment this day and for many days proceeding is that as I become more educated through true principle and eternal ideas I realize more fully how far from true liberty we as Americans and this Nation have come. Somberly I recognize that the solution to the current crisis of liberty has been of our and our parents making. We are at fault! But the greatest news of all is that We are also the solution to this massive situation. Do you want to truly live a life of liberty as God intended? The you must first admit what you have or haven't done to move the cause of liberty. Admitting you have a problem and next step is to make a new choice. This is the day to begin reading, studying and writing so that you can gain the education necessary to remain free. Don't sit by to point out the problems. Begin today as do commit to what Ghandi said "Be the Change you wish to see in the world"

Starting the Blog

I would like to welcome our store to the world of blogging. I have never done this before but find the new experience of opening a local specialized bookstore rewarding and daunting task. My first duty is to be the best wife and mother I can be and then help where I can with the store that my husband runs each day. I am a little more organized then him so the store has a few minor systems that we consistently use but my mental capacity is used up by raising 5 children from ages 13-1 and homeschooling the lot of them. By the time I get to the store to help out I am already mentally exhausted.

Yesterday I went with a local author Janice Mineer "Gingerbread from the heart" to the local radio station to promote her booksigning at the store for that day. I am always nervous. I mix up my words and loose my train of thought but I have enthusiasm for our bookstore and the blessing we are in the community.

At the signing it all went well, not so great, only one book was sold. However, I learned alot about what I would do next time. I may not take on many more authors. Promoting them may not be worth the trouble for an obscure author. This is what I did for the marketing

1. Made colorful posters
2. Hung them up at the library and the thirft store.
3. Promoted it at the store with posters
4. Told people at the register
5. Announced it on the radio the morning of

Next time I would have promoted it in addition
1. 3-4 weeks in advance on the radio
2. Placed it in the paper
3. Took flyers to the schools
4. Personally invited families with children

We have the signing on a Friday from 5-6PM. I think this was a bad time for most families, dinner, activities, just getting home from work.
